Man shot to death in North Austin, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man was shot to death on the city's West Side early Friday morning, Chicago police said.

Police said the shooting happened in the North Austin neighborhood's 5800-block of West Potomac Avenue just after 1:30 a.m.

A 35-year-old man was outside when someone shot him in the body multiple times, police said.

The victim was transported in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity was not immediately released.

Area Five detectives are investigating. Police did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
