Officers responded to scene and found a 16-year-old boy unresponsive near an apartment building, police said.

The boy had multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

After canvassing the scene, officers found an 18-year-old boy with multiple gunshot wounds inside an apartment, police said. The boy was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

Dr. Danielle Cooper lives in the building.

"We've reached out to the property managers," Cooper said. "They're just unbothered, unemotional about it. They really don't care."

Cooper said there's not enough security in the building.

"These kids are always up and down 67th Street, Lakeshore drive, and they are compromised, not just the children, but even the young adults," Cooper said.

Neighbors say something needs to be done to help stop the violence

"Just returned back home from Tennessee after being gone for 18 years, so coming back and seeing that this historical violence is still here, is asinine, you know," Cooper said.

Two guns were recovered from the scene and no one is in custody, police said. Area One detectives are investigating.
