3 hospitalized after sedan crashes, catches fire on DuSable Lake Shore Drive in Streeterville: CPD

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Three people were hospitalized after a car crashed and caught fire on DuSable Lake Shore Drive downtown on Thursday night, Chicago police said.

Police said the crash happened in the Streeterville neighborhood's 1000-block of North DuSable Lake Shore Drive around 9 p.m.

A blue sedan was traveling southbound when it sideswiped a black sedan, which was heading in the same direction, police said.

Police said the blue sedan then struck a median and caught fire. Three people who were in the blue sedan -- two men, 20 and 22, and a 21-year-old woman -- were transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Their conditions were not immediately known.

The black sedan's driver, a 45-year-old man, refused medical attention.

Police did not immediately provide further information about the crash.
