Officers responded to the scene and found three men wounded, police said.

A 28-year-old man was wounded in the back and transported to Advocate Christ Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. He has been identified to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office as Quindon Vincent.

Another man was wounded multiple times and transported to Advocate Christ Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

Another 28-year-old man was wounded in the left foot and transported to Advocate Christ Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.

The victim's brother said he believes was this shooting started out as an attempted robbery.

Now, he's left grieving one of his best friends, a person he describes as hardworking and an expectant father.

"I'm really sad, heartbroken that my little brother got killed last night," Mario, the victim's brother, said.

There are no words to describe the depth of his grieving.

"Good hearted person, real humble and down to earth," Mario said. "Always going out of his way to help people. Always there for my family and he looked out for our grandparents."

Doorbell camera video shows police at a nearby scene treating one of the victims near South Prospect and Homewood.

"This ain't right," Mario said. "There's too much going on. We have to stop doing this to each other."

Mario said he doesn't know the other men his brother was with...but believes this all started as an attempted robbery.

He said his brother is a concealed carry holder and claims he shot one of the suspects involved.

He is left with questions he's hoping are eventually answered as he calls for an end to the violence.

"I just want to know who all was involved with this situation, has something to do with his death. I just want them to come as far as like attacking them. I want them to come forward and turn themself in," Mario said.

No one is in custody.
