The man is an armored truck security guard, CFD said.

Chicago police said a male suspect approached the Brinks truck driver while he was standing outside the bank and pulled out a gun.

Chicago fire officials said the man was shot in both legs, and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.

No one else was injured.

The suspect drove away in a silver vehicle, heading south on Troy Street, then east on 44th Street.

He also allegedly took the security guard's gun.

No one is in custody.

Area One detectives are investigating.

Police remained on the scene behind the bank around noon.

The FBI said they responded to the robbery, as well.

Jesus Recendiz happened to be looking out of his window to check the weather and says he saw the suspect go between shooting the victim and loading bags in a car.

"The guy puts in one shot. He goes to the car, puts in one bag, two bags, comes back and puts in the other shot," Recendiz said.
