Christkindlmarket vendors see much-needed boost as they grapple with city-imposed capacity limit

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The holiday spirit was alive across the Chicago area on Christmas Eve as many last-minute shoppers strolled through stores on State Street and throughout the city.
"We usually come every year at this time," Chicagoan Rikki Ray said. "I have three kids, they love it, the hustle and bustle and with three kids everything is done at the last minute."
The Shops at North Bridge along Michigan Avenue saw some crowds gather for their last-minute shopping. Some surprised at the lack of people around them.
"It's going well," Chareice White said. "I'm from Indiana, came down to purchase a few more gifts ...kind of quiet not too empty but it's quiet."

Abt Electronics in Glenview was also busy with people stocking up on all sorts of deals.
While some are getting their last-minute gifts, others are just happy to take in all that comes with Christmas in Chicago.
"When it's 40 degrees in Chicago, we're outside we're down in the city the best city in the whole country," Mark of Niles said.
Most of the shops on State Street close at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
