Child injured, airlifted to trauma center after falling at elementary school in Crystal Lake

CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. (WLS) -- A child was hospitalized after falling Wednesday at an elementary school in the north suburbs, officials said.

Crystal Lake firefighters responded to Woods Creek elementary.

"This afternoon following dismissal a student was injured on the playground," a statement from the school sent to families read. "The parent was present and emergency services were called and responded immediately. Our thoughts are with the family at this time."

The child had to be airlifted to a trauma center, officials said.

No other details have been released.
