2 killed, 2 seriously injured in car crash in Downers Grove, police say

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. (WLS) -- Two people were killed and two others were seriously injured in a car crash in the west suburbs, police said.

The crash happened around 6:53 p.m. near Highland Avenue and 35th Street in Downers Grove, police said.

Video from the crash scene showed two damaged cars.

Police say a car was turning and was hit by another vehicle. The driver and passenger of the turning car both died. A driver and passenger in the second vehicle are in the hospital.

Police blocked off part of Highland Avenue during the investigation.

The crash is under investigation.
