The person who was shot, a 35-year-old man, was visiting his child and the child's mother at home in the location of the shooting, officials said.

"There was a dispute where threats were allegedly made against the woman's mother," a news release read in part. "It's believed a 52-year-old man who owns the home and the 35-year-old man were arguing in the street when the 35-year-old was shot."

The shooting victim was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His identity has not been released.

The 52-year-old man was being held for questioning, the sheriff said. A firearm was recovered.

There is no current threat to the public. No further information was available.
