American Airlines flight to Chicago aborts takeoff at LaGuardia in NYC after apparent bird strike

NEW YORK -- An American Airlines flight aborted takeoff at LaGuardia Airport Thursday morning after the pilots reported a bird strike.

The plane was still on the ground and was traveling nearly 140 mph when the pilots rejected the takeoff at 8:20 a.m.

The Federal Aviation Administration said American Airlines Flight 392, a Boeing 737-800, was headed to Chicago O'Hare International Airport.
