Person found dead in Fox River in Elgin, police say

ELGIN, Ill. (WLS) -- A death investigation is underway after a body was found in the Fox River in the northwest suburbs.

Elgin police responded around 3:51 p.m. Sunday to the Fox River just north of the Kimball Street Bridge, officials said.

The person, a female whose age was not yet known, was found dead in the river. Her name has not been released.

The Elgin Fire Department and the Kane County Coroner's Office also responded to the scene.
