FRANKFORT, Ill. (WLS) -- A 71-year-old Frankfort man has been accused of threatening Gov. JB Pritzker.
Timothy J. Shemitis has been charged with threatening a public official and harassment by telephone after Illinois State Police said they were notified on March 3 of several voicemail threats from him left for the governor's office.
The Will County State's Attorney's Office approved charges on Tuesday, and Shemitis was arrested.

He was taken to Will County Jail, where he remains in custody.
When public officials alert state police of potential threats, police implement their "Inappropriate Contact and Communication Protocol," ISP said.
They then assess the threats, especially those meeting a criminal threshold, and offer a security assessment to the subject of the threat.
