
CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man was found shot to death on a South Side sidewalk on Friday evening, Chicago police said.
Police said officers responded to a call about a person shot in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood's 100-block of East 71st Street just after 10:20 p.m.
There, officers found an unresponsive 49-year-old man who had been shot in the cheek and shoulder.
The Chicago Fire Department treated the victim before taking him to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The man's name was not immediately released.
Area One detectives are investigating. Authorities did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
