HAMMOND, Ind. (WLS) -- A 66-year-old north suburban man died after a northwest Indiana boat crash over the weekend.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources said Herman Woods of Round Lake Beach died after the Lake Michigan crash.
On Saturday night, police say a boat hit a submerged breakwall and a second breakwall while trying to enter the harbor at the Hammond marina after Venetian Night festivities in Illinois.
The impact threw the people into the water.
Woods was found unresponsive on the breakwall, the IDNR said.
CPR was performed and he was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to police, all six people onboard were wearing life jackets.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
