2 people killed, 1 injured in car crash in Highland Park, police say

HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- Two people were killed in a car crash Saturday afternoon in the north suburbs.

The two-vehicle crash happened around 3:05 p.m. at the intersection of Park Avenue and Route 41 in Highland Park, police said.

A vehicle traveling north on Route 41 crashes into a vehicle turning south onto Route 41 from westbound Park Avenue, Highland Park police said.

Three people were taken to a hospital, where two people were late pronounced dead, police said. Their ages, genders and identities have not been released.

The condition of the third person who was injured was not known.

No further information was immediately available as High Park police and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team continue to investigate.
