Person found shot to death inside Homewood home, police say

HOMEWOOD, Ill. (WLS) -- A person was found shot to death at a south suburban home on Saturday afternoon, police said.

Homewood police said officers responded to a report of an unresponsive female in the 2400-block of 175th Street just before 1:45 p.m.

There, officers found a female of an unknown age who had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and died, police said. Her identity was not immediately released.

The Homewood Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force are conducting a homicide investigation.

Investigators believe the shooting was an isolated incident, and there is no known threat to the public.
