CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 60-year-old woman is in critical condition after her husband allegedly set her on fire in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood.
Police said they were arguing over money in an alley behind a Salvation Army store in the 4300-block of North Broadway just after 9 p.m. Sunday.
The 66-year-old man, who is in a wheel chair, allegedly poured rubbing alcohol on his wife and set her on fire with a lighter.
A witness helped put out the fire by patting down the victim and helping to remove her clothing.
The woman was taken to Stroger Hospital, where she is listed in critical condition. She suffered third-degree burns from the top of her head to her waist.
During a search, officers found a small plastic bag containing a substance thought to be cannabis in her husband's prosthetic leg, according to a police report, which lists his home address as the Pacific Garden Mission in the 1400 block of South Canal.
The man is in custody. Charges have not yet been filed.
