Driver hits, kills 65-year-old pedestrian on Gage Park sidewalk after arguing with him: police

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police are looking for a driver who hit and killed a man after arguing with him on the city's Southwest Side early Saturday.

Police said it happened in the Gage Park neighborhood's 5000-block of South Western Avenue around 2:40 a.m.

The driver stopped his blue SUV near the curb and began arguing with a 65-year-old pedestrian, who was standing on the sidewalk, police said.

Police said the suspect drove onto the curb and hit the man before fleeing the scene eastbound on 51st Street.

The pedestrian, who suffered trauma to the body, was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity was not immediately released.

Area One detectives are investigating.

Police did not immediately provide further information.
