Two men shot, one fatally, while sitting inside car on South Side: CPD

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Two men were shot, one fatally, while sitting in a car on Chicago's South Side early Saturday morning, police said.

Police said the shooting happened around 1:20 a.m. in the Bronzeville neighborhood on West 43rd Street between LaSalle and State streets. That's just east of Interstate 90.

A 58-year-old driver and a 26-year-old passenger were inside a blue hatchback when someone fired shots.

The 58-year-old, shot in the neck, was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. His identity was not immediately released.

The 26-year-old, grazed in the back of the head, was taken to the same hospital in good condition.

Police said no one else was injured.

Area One detectives are investigating. Authorities did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
