Man charged, accused of sexually abusing 6-year-old girl in Chatham, police say

CPD searching for man accused of sexually abusing 6-year-old girl

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police have arrested a 41-year-old man accused of sexually abusing a 6-year-old girl.

The crime happened around 7:40 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of West 87th Street in Chatham, police said.

The suspect was identified as James Spencer, 41.

CPD said he is accused of pretending to fall and "brace his fall" by grabbing a 6-year-old girl who was with her mother, CPD said.

He was arrested on Wednesday at his residence in Englewood, police said.

Spencer is facing one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a minor.

Police said he is due in court on Thursday.
