Potential person of interest detained; incident appears targeted, police say

KENDALL COUNTY, Ill. (WLS) -- Kendall County officials are investigating after a 14-year-old girl was shot in an unincorporated Oswego Township home and a man was found dead there, officials said.
Chicago police notified the Kendall County Sheriff's Office that the girl had been treated and released at a Chicago-area hospital for a gunshot wound to her leg. She had been shot at a home at 5 Palomino Lane between 8 and 10 a.m. Sunday, police said.
Kendall County sheriff's deputies searched the home, and found a dead 22-year-old man, who had been shot multiple times.
He has not yet been identified.
Investigators have identified a potential person of interest, who has been detained and is currently in custody; however, charges have not been filed, police said.

The incident appears targeted, and there is no threat to the greater community, police said.
Police believe the shots were fired from outside the home.
The girl is from Chicago, a Kendall County spokesperson said.
It appears the shooting might be tied to a Valentine's Day party at the home Saturday night. There was a ticketed event starting at 11 p.m.
Neighbors said the property was the site of frequent large-scale parties.
ABC7 Chicago contacted the phone number associated with the Valentine's Day party.
A text message response said, "Some teenagers arrived in a black car that arrived armed and started a discussion between them. The truth. We don't know about the people who shot. They weren't invited."
Police said they have had several prior calls for noise and complaints tied to the property.
The Kendall County Sheriff's Office is working with the Kendall County Major Crimes Task Force and the Kendall County Coroner's Office on the investigation.
They were on the scene until Monday afternoon.
