Sheriff's deputy hospitalized after head-on crash during police chase in NW Indiana, officials say

GARY, Ind. (WLS) -- A sheriff's deputy was hospitalized Wednesday after a head-on crash with a suspect during a police chase in Lake County, Indiana.

The crash happened during a chase near 9th avenue in Gary, officials said.

The sheriff's deputy was expected to recover.

Two people in the suspect's vehicle were also hospitalized.

The driver was in custody, officials said.
