Legendary Checkerboard Lounge closes in Hyde Park

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The legendary blues club Checkerboard Lounge has closed in Chicago.

The lounge closed after the death of its owner, L.C. Thurman.

He first opened the club on 43rd Street back in 1972. It moved to Hyde Park in 2005.
