Chicago business and civic leaders announced plans Tuesday for what they're calling the "O'Hare Flyer."

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A new, faster way to get from the Loop to O'Hare could soon be coming.

Chicago business and civic leaders announced plans Tuesday for what they're calling the "O'Hare Flyer."

Plans call for using existing freight right-of-ways to create a 15-minute train connection between O'Hare's terminal 2 and the Old Post office on Van Buren Street.

"O'Hare Flyer will connect our world class downtown with our world class airport in fifteen minutes," said O'Hare Flyer Founder and Chief Executive Officer Dave Lundy. "This is a first-of-its-kind express train in the U.S. and will give Chicago a safe, reliable, world-class rider experience on a fast, whisper-quiet battery-electric train."

Proponents said the premium "Flyer" would be roughly a half-hour quicker than the CTA's Blue line service .
