West suburban intersection reopens after gas leak, police say
Major Kane County intersection, Route 64 and LaFox Road, in Campton Hills was closed for a gas leak, police say.

CAMPTON HILLS, Ill. -- A major intersection in Kane County was closed for hours Monday due to a gas leak, police said.

Route 64 and LaFox Road was closed in all directions Monday morning, Campton Hills police said in a Facebook post at 11:15 a.m.

The public was asked to avoid the area, as emergency personnel worked to secure the leak.

Chopper 7 was over the scene about 11:30 a.m. There was a large emergency response in the area, which includes a nearby strip mall.

The roadway reopened about 3 p.m., police said.
