Man, 21, killed in Uptown shooting, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 21-year-old man was killed in a shooting in Uptown Friday morning, Chicago police said.

The shooting took place at about 12:24 a.m. in the 5100-block of North Winthrop Avenue.

Police said the victim was sitting in his vehicle when an unknown male suspect approached, took out a gun and shot him.

The victim was shot in the neck and transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Area Three detective are investigating.
