Man dies after falling off personal watercraft near Navy Pier, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man died Thursday after falling into the water while riding a personal watercraft near Navy Pier, Chicago police said.

The incident happened around 4 p.m. in the 900 block of East Grand Avenue downtown.

A 52-year-old man was riding a personal watercraft when he fell into Lake Michigan, police said.

The man was pulled from the water by CFD crews and was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His identity was not yet known.

No further information was immediately available as Chicago police continue to investigate.
