BOURBONNAIS, Ill. -- After a fight involving rookie cornerback Kyle Fuller at training camp in Bourbonnais, tight end Martellus Bennett has been suspended indefinitely by the Chicago Bears.
The team said Bennett has also been fined. On its Twitter account, the team called Bennett's conduct "detrimental" to the team.
At practice Monday, Bennett and first round draft choice Fuller got into a heated physical confrontation. Several teammates had to calm Bennett down. The AP reports Benneett bodyslammed Fuller.
The skirmish happened after Fuller knocked Bennett down during a limited contact scrimmage. Bennett wasn't at practice Tuesday morning and it's not clear when he'll return.
The Bears play their preseason opener with the Philadelphia Eagles at Soldier Field Friday.
Bennett was drafted from Texas A&M by the Dallas Cowboys in 2008 and spent four seasons there before spending a year with the Giants, then landing in Chicago for the 2013 season. Last year he caught 65 passes for 759 yards and scored five touchdowns.
