1 fatally shot in Melrose Park Amazon Fulfillment Center employee garage: village official

MELROSE PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- One person died after being shot in an employee garage at a suburban Amazon Fulfillment Center, a Melrose Park village spokesperson said Thursday morning.

Officials were called for reports of a shooting at the facility in the 1800-block of North Fifth Avenue in Melrose Park just after 9 a.m. Thursday.

When they arrived, they found a person in the garage who had been shot.

A security guard was trying to help the individual.

The person was taken to Loyola hospital, where the victim died, officials said.

There is no threat to the public, as officials believe the shooting was the result of a personal dispute.

The alleged shooter fled the scene, officials said.

Video of the facility Thursday morning showed a large police response. Employees were seen gathered outside, as well.
