Multiple people injured in Merrillville, Indiana shooting: police

MERRILLVILLE, Ind. (WLS) -- Police in northwest Indiana are investigating a shooting that injured multiple people on Sunday night.

Merrillville police said the shooting happened in the 7800-block of Rhode Island Street just after 9 p.m.

Officers have not said how badly the victims were injured or exactly how many people were wounded.

What led up to the shooting was not immediately clear.

Authorities are calling the shooting an isolated incident, saying that there is no danger to the public.
