Pedestrian struck, killed in Gage Park, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man was killed after he was hit by an SUV in the Gage Park neighborhood Sunday night, Chicago police said.

The crash occurred at about 10:47 p.m. in the 5100-block of South Western Avenue.

Police said the driver was speeding when the SUV hit the pedestrian, before crashing into something else.

The man was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

The driver was not hurt.

The CPD Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating.
