Woman found strangled at Schaumburg home; 1 in custody: police

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (WLS) -- Police found a woman strangled inside a north suburban home on Thursday night.

Schaumburg police said officers responded to a 911 call for a wellbeing check in the 1700-block of Weathersfield Way around 9:20 p.m.

Responding officers found the victim, who died at the scene, police said.

Her body was taken to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, where officials determined that she died by strangulation.

The medical examiner's office said the woman was 43 years old. Her identity was not immediately released.

At the home, police also found a male subject, of an unknown age, who is known to the victim. Police took him into custody.

Police said they are conducting a homicide investigation, and there is no immediate threat to the community.

Authorities did not immediately provide further information.
