CPD officer fired shot, no one struck, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Two Chicago police officers and a juvenile suspect were taken to local hospitals Thursday morning, after a stolen vehicle investigation turned into a police chase, CPD said.
Chicago police were conducting a stolen vehicle investigation in the 8100-block of South Merrill Avenue in South Chicago just after 11:30 a.m., police said.
As officers approached an occupied stolen vehicle, the driver tried to drive away, hitting a CPD squad car, police said.
One suspect, armed with a gun, ran away, and a CPD officer fired a gun, police said.
No one was shot during the incident, according to police.

Two suspects under 18 and one adult were taken into custody.
Two guns and two stolen vehicles were recovered, police said.
One juvenile suspect was taken to Comer Children's Hospital for treatment of a minor abrasion to his hand, police said.
One officer was taken to a local hospital for observation and another was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries, CPD said.
The officers involved will be placed on routine administrative duties for a minimum of 30 days.
The Civilian Office of Police Accountability is investigating the use-of force.
