ROBBINS, Ill. (WLS) -- A man was killed in a shooting in south suburban Robbins early Friday morning, a spokesperson told ABC7.
Robbins police responded to a call about shots fired near Clair Boulevard and Maxey Court just before 4 a.m.
Officers found a man who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, the spokesperson said. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
He was identified as Shadehi Colone, 20, of Robbins.
Chopper 7 was over the scene, where Robbins police and Cook County sheriff's police officers set up a tent surrounded by evidence markers in the residential neighborhood.
The Robbins Police Department said neighbors are cooperating with investigators as law enforcement officers try to piece together what led up to the deadly shooting.
Carolyn Tarochione is coming to grips with a grim reality. She says her cousin was shot to death in the 3700-block of Maxey Court.
"You know it's hard, very hard," Tarochione said. "I don't know. I was shocked and I'm like. 'What happened?'"
Neighbors and loved ones watched the investigation unfold in front of their eyes, feet from their homes.
Sardis Lane lives near the scene and said the sound of gunfire woke him up on the normally quiet street.
"Well I heard probably about five shots. I heard two, and then, I heard another three, "Lane said. "I'm feeling sad for the family right now. I'm praying for peace for their family."
Carletta Traylor said it is hard to believe that the shooting happened just down the street from her home.
"It's shocking, honestly. I understand crime can happen anywhere. Like, no area is isolated from crime. But it's a big shock, because usually, Maxey Court is a very quiet block," Traylor said.
Investigators said it is still too early to speculate on a motive for the shooting.
"We will ensure the residents in this neighborhood have answers, hopefully, as soon as possible," said Robbins Police Department Spokesperson Sean Howard.
Police said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no immediate threat to the public.
