Sandra Bland honored at Black Women's Expo reception

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Black Women's Expo Phenomenal Woman Awards reception was held Thursday night.

The new She Matters Award was presented posthumously to Sandra Bland, the suburban native that Texas authorities say hanged herself in a Texas jail. Her mother accepted the honor.

ABC7's Karen Jordan was the emcee.
