Celebration of life held for Spencer Leak Jr., late vice president of Leak and Sons Funeral Homes

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago funeral director and community leader Spencer Leak Jr. was laid to rest Saturday after an emotional celebration of life.

Leak Jr. passed away suddenly last month at the age of 56. He was the vice president of Leak and Sons Funeral Homes.

Leak Jr. recently led and planned the funeral of Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr.

Family and friends filled the House of Hope for the service Saturday.

Many local leaders spoke, including Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson.

A public visitation for Leak Jr. was held Thursday at the family's Leak and Sons Funeral Home at 78th and South Cottage Grove in Chicago.

His funeral service was held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday. The wake began at 10 a.m. Saturday.
