Suburban day care teacher charged after giving laxative to toddlers

ST. CHARLES, Ill. (WLS) -- A day care teacher was charged after allegedly giving chewable laxatives to toddlers, St. Charles police said.

Police said multiple parents called on Tuesday morning saying their child had been given a chewable laxative by one of their day care teachers.

The day care is located in the 2400-block of West Main Street, police said.

St. Charles police said each victim is 2 years old or younger.

Yizel J. Juarez, 23 of Sycamore, was identified as the day care teacher who allegedly gave the children laxatives.

Juarez was charged with attempted aggravated battery and endangering the life or health of a child. Both are misdemeanors.

She turned herself in to police. After being processed, she was released from police custody.
