CHICAGO (WLS) -- The State Street Bridge over the Chicago River will stay closed, until at least the end of next month.
The Chicago Department of Transportation says repairs to the bridge will be done by Feb. 26, followed by bridge trials.
Once those trials are done, the bridge will fully reopen for vehicles, bikes and pedestrians.
All traffic has been detoured around the bridge since April, as crews work on the repairs.
Originally scheduled to reopen mid-November, the reopening date was first pushed to January 2026 for additional steel repairs and "weather-related delays," CDOT said.
The Lake Street, Chicago-Halsted and Cortland bridges are also closed.
The State and Lake elevated CTA station, also a CDOT project, is closed, as well, until 2029. That construction is creating additional street closures in the area.
