Chicago issues disaster proclamation for August flooding

CHICAGO (WLS) -- New help is on the way for people in Chicago who were impacted by flooding earlier this month.

Mayor Brandon Johnson has issued a disaster proclamation to help residents who were hit by flooding Aug. 16-19.

Because of this proclamation, the city can pursue all available resources to help people recover.

The city is still working to determine if the damage qualifies for reimbursement from the federal government.
