19-year-old found in Cal Sag Channel identified by officials

ALSIP, Ill. (WLS) -- Officials have identified the 19-year-old woman who died after being found in the Cal Sag Channel.

On Tuesday, the Alsip Fire Department and Palos Heights police responded to the channel near 131st Street at about 4:30 p.m.

First responders found a 19-year-old woman in the water and she was rushed to the hospital, where she died.

She was identified as Tabarak Al Najjar of Crestwood, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said.

No other information was available. It is not clear if this investigation involves criminal activity.
