CHICAGO (WLS) -- Here's quick tip on fake customer service messages that look like they are from your favorite big-box store. They are scams and could cost you your identity and your money.

The Better Business Bureau warns scammers are sending fake emails, texts, and even social media ads offering giveaways, rewards, exclusive deals, and surveys. The goal? To steal your Social Security number, credit card information, or bank account details.

Never click links or download attachments in unsolicited messages. Instead, go directly to the retailer's official website or app, yourself.
