CHICAGO (WLS) -- Here's a quick tip warning for Illinois homeowners.
A new LendingTree study finds the average Illinois homeowner now pays more than $2,700 a year for home insurance. That's about 14% above the national average. Since 2020, premiums here have surged 68%.
Shop around and compare quotes. Staying with the same company doesn't always mean the best rate.
Ask about bundling your home and auto insurance or raising your deductible.
Get every discount you may qualify for, such as a "price reduction" for not filing claims, or discounts if you have a security system, paperless billing and automatic payments.
