JOLIET, Ill. (WLS) -- A 13-year-old has been charged in a shooting that critically injured another young teen Monday evening in Joliet, police said.
The Joliet boy has been arrested and taken to the Will County River Valley Justice Center. He's been charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, police said Tuesday.
Joliet police said officers responded to the 400-block of Market Street just before 5 p.m. Monday.
There, officers found a 13-year-old boy who had been shot in the shoulder.
The Joliet Fire Department transported the boy in critical condition to Saint Joseph Medical Center, and he was later airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.
On Tuesday, he remained stable but in critical condition after surgery, police said.
K9 officers found the gun believed to have been used in the shooting.
The boy arrested was just one of the boys inside the home at the time of the shooting, police said.
Police continue to investigate who owns the gun.
