Suspect shoots into car, injuring 16-year-old boy in Humboldt Park: police

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A suspect shot into a car, injuring a teenage boy on the city's Northwest Side early Saturday morning, Chicago police said.

Police said the shooting happened around midnight in the Humboldt Park neighborhood's 3800-block of West Hirsch Street.

An unknown offender, who was standing on the street, took out a gun and opened fire on a vehicle, police said.

Police said a 16-year-old boy, who was a passenger in that car, suffered a gunshot wound to the body. The victim self-transported to Humboldt Park Health and was transferred to Stroger Hospital, where he is listed in good condition.

Area Five detectives are investigating. Police did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
