Suspect in custody after pursuit leads to 'critical incident,' Thornton police say

THORNTON, Ill. (WLS) -- Thornton police said a person is in custody after a "critical incident" on Wednesday.

Officials urged the public to avoid the area of Bonnie and Highland as police investigated a "critical incident" in the afternoon.

The South Suburban Emergency Response Team was at the scene.

By 5:30 p.m., police said the scene ended with a person in custody.

Police said the incident started as a stolen vehicle pursuit. The suspect allegedly ran off into a home on Bonnie Court.

The suspect was taken into custody. Charges are pending.
