Tow truck driver crashes into CPD squad unit in West Garfield Park, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police said a tow truck driver allegedly crashed into a CPD squad unit in West Garfield Park on Saturday night.

The crash happened at about 10:09 p.m. in the 4500-block of W. Madison Street, police said.

A man, 26, was driving a tow truck eastbound on Madison and allegedly crashed into a CPD squad unit that was heading southbound.

Police said the crash happened at the intersection.

Two Chicago police officers were taken to an area hospital; both are expected to be OK.

The driver that allegedly crashed into police was not injured. Police said he was issued a citation.
