A wireless carrier wants to help you keep track of your luggage when you travel.

AT&T has developed a smart luggage tracker.

The tracking device is attached to or placed inside your luggage.

Software on a mobile device then tracks a bag's location in real time using AT&T's 3G network.

Users would get a text alert mapping out where their bag is located. It would also tell if a bag is in another city.

Right now the luggage tracker is a prototype. AT&T has not said how quickly it could be available on the market.
