Rabid bat found in Edison Park

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A rabid bat was found in the Edison Park neighborhood on Chicago's North Side.

Animal Care and Control said the bat was found in the 6700-block of North Oxford on Thursday.

Local pet owners are being encouraged to keep their dogs, cats and other pets on a leash when outdoors. They should also make sure their animals' rabies vaccines are up to date.
