CHICAGO (WLS) -- Protesters called for the city to get rid of red light cameras at intersections in Chicago, as well as across Illinois, on Sunday at a rally on the city's South Side.
The demonstration, held near East 76th Street and Stony Island Avenue, held days after John Bills, a former city Department of Transportation manager, was convicted for corruption related to the city's red light camera program.
State Rep. Ken Dunkin, D-Chicago, also made demands, calling for a vote by state lawmakers on his proposal to end red light cameras in Illinois.
Activists also pointed to research that suggests many of the red light cameras cause more injuries than they prevent.
