CHICAGO (WLS) -- Many Red Line riders can look forward to enjoying new artwork on their commutes.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel helped to unveil conceptual renderings of original works by local artists at the DuSable Museum on Monday.
The works will be installed at the eight Red Line rail stations between Cermak-Chinatown and 87th Street. The commissioning of the new artwork is the final component of the $425 million Red Line South reconstruction project.
The CTA received more than 300 submissions after issuing a call for artists one year ago. An evaluation committee reviewed all the works before making its final selection.
